Union Minister Ajay Tamta said on Friday that the Road Transport and Highways Ministry has launched eight major high-speed corridor and ring road projects in the first 100 days of the Modi 3.0 government.
Construction Projects Launched
The projects include Agra-Gwalior, Kharagpur-Moregram, Dharad-Mehsana-Ahmedabad, Ayodhya Ring Road, Pathalgaon-Gumla, Kanpur Ring Road, Guwahati Ring Road, and Nashik Phata-Khed Elevated Corridor, according to the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways while addressing reporters.
According to him, the projects will lower logistics costs, improve the routes' capacity to handle traffic, and cut travel times by up to 60%.
According to Tamta, the projects also hope to create more than 5 crore man-days of employment, which will strengthen the local economy.
It will improve industrial and commercial connectivity in addition to making travel easier.
Other Projects Launched
The ministry's notable accomplishments include the approval of 215 km of new projects, totaling Rs 5,000 crore, which include the extension of roads and bypasses in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh.
In addition, the minister stated that 219 kilometers of high-speed corridors are prepared for use, bringing the total length of these corridors in the nation to 2,357 kilometers.
A pilot project for barrier-free tolling using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has been launched.
Furthermore, the minister stated that a cashless treatment scheme for road accident victims is being implemented on a pilot basis in Assam and Chandigarh.
The Automated Traffic Management System (ATMS) has been implemented on 428 kilometers of national highways, and it is planned to be implemented on all high-speed corridors within the next five years.
Blackspots have been improved, 46,000 vehicles have been scrapped under the vehicle scrapping policy, and 12 RTO services are now available online, providing citizens with convenient and transparent services.
