How to Export Basmati Rice from India to UAE

Exporting Basmati rice from India to the UAE offers opportunities for Indian rice exporters, suppliers and agro-trading businesses. With demand from wholesalers, distributors, retailers and food-service businesses, the UAE can be a promising market for quality Indian Basmati rice.

To begin, exporters should identify reliable UAE buyers, understand their quality requirements and finalise the rice variety, grain length, packaging, order quantity and pricing. Exporters generally need an Importer Exporter Code (IEC) and APEDA Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC). Basmati rice export contracts must also be registered with APEDA to obtain the applicable Registration-Cum-Allocation Certificate (RCAC) before shipment.

Before shipping, exporters should confirm UAE food import requirements with their buyer and relevant authorities. These may include food product registration, compliant labelling, applicable food safety requirements and necessary shipment certificates.

Important export documents may include a commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, bill of lading, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate and relevant quality documents, as applicable to the shipment.
