Agriculture Ministry Receives Budget Allocation of Rs 1.27 Lakh Crore for FY25

For 2024–2025, the Ministry of Agriculture in India will have a budget of Rs 1.27 lakh Cr., which is marginally higher than in the current fiscal year. Funds Allocated For Current Fiscal 

According to the current fiscal's revised estimates, the department of agriculture has been allocated Rs 1,16,788.96 Cr. and the DARE Rs 9,876.60 Cr. The Department of Agriculture's flagship PM-KISAN scheme will continue to receive Rs 60,000 Cr in funding for the upcoming fiscal year. In accordance with this scheme, farmers receive Rs 6,000 from the government annually in three equal installments. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has been allotted Rs 2.13 lakh Cr. for the upcoming fiscal year, which is less than the amount for 2023–24, according to the budget papers.

This ministry has set aside Rs 303.62 Cr. for the department of consumer affairs in 2024–25, from Rs 309.26 Cr. in the current fiscal year. The budget allocated to the Department of Food and Public Distribution is Rs 2,13,019.75 Cr, down from Rs 2,21,924.64 Cr in the current fiscal year 2023–24. Through ration shops, this department is tasked with giving free foodgrains to over 80 Cr. people. The Home Minister Amit Shah's Ministry of Cooperation has been given a budget of Rs 1,183.39 Cr. for 2024–25, up from Rs 747.84 Cr. in FY24. The document states that Rs 7,105.74 Cr. has been set aside for the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying for the upcoming fiscal year. 

From this, the department of fisheries will receive an allocation of Rs 2,584.50 Cr in the upcoming fiscal year, up from Rs 1,701 Cr in the current fiscal year 2023–2024. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has been allotted a sum of Rs 4,521.24 Cr. for the 2024–25 fiscal year, an increase from the current fiscal year of Rs 3,913.93 Cr. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries will receive an allocation of Rs 3,290 Cr. in the upcoming fiscal year, up from Rs 2,911.95 Cr. in the current fiscal year.
