The 54th Network Planning Group (NPG) has proposed four infrastructure projects as part of the PM Gati initiative, with a total cost of Rs 7,693.17 crore. These recommended projects encompass diverse regions and purposes.
One of these initiatives is the construction of the four-lane Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Kerala, estimated at a cost of Rs 4,767.20 crore. Another approved project is the Dahod-Bodeli-Vapi Corridor, with a projected cost of Rs 1,179.33 crore. This corridor will establish vital connectivity with Bodeli, Devaliya, Dharampur, Vapi, and eventually Mumbai through the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, which is currently in the implementation stage.
The recommendations also include the creation of new broad gauge (BG) railway lines in Rajasthan. The Pushkar-Merta railway line, with an estimated cost of Rs 799.64 crore, aims to establish a direct link from Central to Northern India and the Western border. This connection will alleviate congestion on highways, easing the movement of goods and people.
Likewise, the Merta City-Ras railway line, costing Rs 947 crore, seeks to enhance the swift transportation of goods. This line will contribute to the development of Pali and Nagaur districts in the state.
The Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road project, a component of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, aligns with the Mumbai-Kanyakumari Economic Corridor. It serves a dual purpose by connecting the eastern and northern regions and providing the crucial last-mile link to the new international seaport in Vizhinjam.
Overall, these projects endorsed by the NPG will substantially enhance connectivity and promote development across various regions, contributing to India's infrastructure expansion.
