Sugar Shipments In Brazilian Ports Reach 3.2 Million Tons

According to a survey conducted by the maritime agency Williams Brasil, there were 78 ships waiting to load sugar in Brazilian ports in the week ending January 17, up from 73 the week before. 3.240 million tons of sugar were scheduled to be loaded, a substantial increase over the 2.784 million tons of sugar loaded the week before.

Loading at Ports 

The majority of the volume for bulk sugar exports (2.505 million tons) was scheduled for loading at the Port of Santos (SP), which leads the operations. The ports of Paranaguá, Paraná (524,756 tons), São Sebastião, São Paulo (61.3 thousand tons), Recife, Pernambuco (85,800 tons), Suape, Pernambuco (35,000 tons), and Maceió, Alagoas (27,500 tons) are the next ports in order. The VHP (3.013 million tons), TBC (190,300 tons), and Refined A-45 (36.5 thousand tons) sugar cargoes are all headed for export. All vessels—those anchored now, those awaiting docking, and those due to arrive by February 20th—are taken into account in the agency's report. 

Top Sugar Exports 

According to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), Brazilian exports of sugar and other molasses generated an average daily revenue of US$89.580 million in nine working days in January. Throughout the month, the monthly average for export volume was 167,774 thousand tons.With an average price of US$533.90 per ton, the 1,509,968 tons of sugar exported brought in US$806.220 million in revenue. The daily value obtained from sugar exports in January 2024 increased significantly by 119.8% when compared to the daily average of January 2023, which was US$40.760 million. Volume increased by 82.2%, surpassing the 92,071 thousand tons shipped per day in January 2023. In comparison to the US$442.70 per ton recorded in the same period of the previous year, the average price increased by 20.6%.
