The export ban on rice and rice-related products, with the exception of rice seeds, was extended by the Russian government on Tuesday for an additional six months, until June 30, 2025.
In order to guarantee steady supplies to the domestic market, the government said that a decree had been signed to extend the ban past December 31, 2024.
International transit shipments, humanitarian aid, and rice exports to South Ossetia, Abkhazia, and the Eurasian Economic Union single market are exempt from restrictions.
In 2022, an accident at the Fedorovsky retention hydroelectric complex and the flooding of rice fields in the Krasnodar region—Russia's main rice-producing region—led to the initial implementation of temporary restrictions on rice exports.
