The government of Sri Lanka has made the decision to allow the private sector to import rice.

According to Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa, the cabinet spokesperson, this issue was covered at a meeting held the day before.

All of the Cabinet ministers had decided to permit rice imports by the private sector during the meeting.

As a result, the private sector will act to quickly import the required amount of rice into the nation.

Additionally, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa stated that any kind of rice can be imported.
