Corn Inspections In the U.S.

According to the Department of Agriculture, inspections of U.S. corn exports have increased this week, though they are still far behind the pace of last year.

According to the USDA's most recent report on grain export inspections for the week ended 11th May, corn export inspections totaled 1.17 million metric tons, up from the 974,450 tons inspected the week prior. Yearly inspections remain significantly lower than last year's levels, with inspections totaling 26.05 million tons, a 33% decrease from the previous year.

Other Agri-commodities Inspections

Meanwhile, soybean inspections fell from the previous week, with 147,897 tons inspected this week, compared to 397,791 tons the previous week. Wheat inspections increased slightly, totaling 242,269 tons, up from 214,538 tons the previous week.

Corn from the United States was primarily exported to China, whereas wheat and soybeans were primarily exported to Mexico. Trading in grain futures on the CBOT has increased. Wheat is up 3.2%, soybeans are up 1.3%, and corn futures, which are the most active, are up 1.7%.
