Economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan is expected to grow as significant initiatives are implemented to improve trade, investment, business-to-business, and people-to-people ties.
We are going to establish the Azerbaijan Trade Centre in Lahore and the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce to bring the business communities of both countries closer together and open up new avenues for mutual cooperation,” Azerbaijan Ambassador Khazar Farhadov announced at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
The ambassador stated that Azerbaijan had a lot of respect and affection for Pakistan and was committed to improving bilateral relations. Since Punjab is known for producing high-quality Basmati rice, he urged traders to take advantage of the duty-free access that Azerbaijan has granted to Pakistani rice imports until 2027.
He assured Pakistani traders that Azerbaijan would provide maximum assistance in exploring opportunities in the Central Asian nation.
Speaking at the event, LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad called for collaborative efforts to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion.
He stated that Azerbaijan shared borders with Russia, Georgia, Iran, Turkey, and Armenia, and that its geographical location made the Central Asian country an important player in regional trade and transportation networks.
